About Me (the Ecologist):
I've always been interested in ecology (maybe before I knew what ecology meant). My research, career and education path has been shaped by unique and enriching events, both as simple as getting my first pair of binoculars and as in depth as embarking on a PhD in a new state and ecosystem. Please see other pages for my current research and teaching.

About Me (the Person):
I grew up on the east end of Long Island, close to the Atlantic Ocean, potato fields, and the pine barrens. I've enjoyed meeting new people in each new place that I've lived and feel blessed that my fieldwork has taken me to many beautiful places.
In my free time, I paint, hike, practice yoga, sample beer, and hang out with my awesome dog Ben. My newest adventure is taking horseback riding lessons again after a 10 year hiatus. Turns out horse crazy girls just become horse crazy adults.
